Helen Forey

The St Clare’s Careers Service is led by Helen Forey, Head of Careers. With our Careers & HE Adviser and Trainee Adviser, she supports St Clare’s students on both campuses in all aspects of application to university around the world, career exploration, assessment centres and interviews. She loves helping students to prepare to navigate the changing world of work and develop lifelong career management skills.

Helen studied modern languages at the Universities of Oxford, Cardiff, Passau and Champagne-Ardenne and became a member of the Institute of Linguists in 2003. In a 15-year career in the international classical music industry, she combined her love of classical music, languages, photography and design in editorial and creative marketing roles at Decca Music Group, EMI & Virgin Classics and was the Deputy Managing Director of a London media agency where she managed DVD production for European and American opera houses. She has a particular professional interest in international education and social justice, holds a Postgraduate Diploma in Career Development and Coaching Studies from the University of Warwick and is a member of the Career Development Institute and the International Association of College Admission Counselors.

In her free time she is a keen member of a traditional British brass band and enjoys inter-railing around Europe and walking in the Welsh countryside where she grew up.

Dominic Fuge

With an academic curiosity for evolutionary biology and ancient civilisations, Dominic completed his undergraduate degree, at Durham University, in Anthropology and Archaeology. Whilst he did get to spend a month excavating in a Bronze Age cave of Southern Italy, after several experiences of digging in the pouring rain of Northern England, he realised that opportunities to emulate an Indiana Jones lifestyle may be less numerous than he previously thought. Dominic’s interests then developed into investigating the evolutionary underpinnings of psychopathology, leading to a master’s degree in the Psychology of Mental Health, at the University of Edinburgh. He subsequently studied Education at the University of Cambridge.

Dominic started his career in education by teaching A-Level Psychology, whilst also working as a Special Educational Needs Officer, in a London state school. Since moving to Oxford in 2019, Dominic’s roles have expanded into designing bespoke careers and higher education provision for home and international students. He has held previous roles such as ‘Academic Strategy Tutor’ and ‘Senior Manager of the Supercurricular Programme’, before then being the ‘Head of University Engagement and Alumni Relations’, at Oxford International College. Dominic keenly joined St. Clare’s, in 2022, as their ‘Careers and Higher Education Adviser’.

In his spare time, Dominic is still thinking about careers and higher education, contemplating what next to include in the blog section of www.stclarescareersexplore.com. However, when not engaged in such deep philosophical contemplation, Dominic enjoys the occasional horse riding and clay pigeon shooting. He also enjoys visiting local cafes and restaurants, living Oxford’s la dolce vita.

Emily Spriggs

Emily joined St Clare’s in 2022 as a Trainee Careers and Higher Education Adviser. She completed her undergraduate degree at the University of Portsmouth in Psychology and is now completing her Postgraduate Certificate in Career Development Work at the University of Warwick.

Before coming to St Clare’s, she worked in the NHS supporting the delivery of psychological interventions for people with chronic health conditions. She also has experience working in a special educational needs school supporting children with learning difficulties.

In her spare time, she enjoys travelling around the world, hiking in the Lake District, and visiting her friends and family around the country.
