Category 1

Category 1 workshops are intended as introductory workshops for those who are new to teaching the subject as part of the IB Diploma. It is possible that those attending category 1 workshops are experienced teachers of the subject, but have not yet taught it as part of the IB Diploma.

Category 1 workshops are likely to be attended by teachers who are:

  • new to the IB Diploma
  • new to teaching

Category 2

Category 2 workshops are intended to provide professional development opportunities for those who have had significant experience of teaching the subject as part of the IB Diploma. It is possible that those attending category 2 workshops are experienced teachers but are working in an IB world school teaching another subject. Such teachers will need to have knowledge of the IBDP programme, its structure and philosophy.

Category 2 workshops are likely to be attended by teachers who are:

  • working or have worked in an IB World school
  • experienced in teaching their subject as part of the Diploma
  • experienced in teaching a different subject as part of the Diploma
  • familiar with the current subject guide
  • willing and able to contribute ideas and opinions to the workshop

Category 3

Category 3 workshops are intended for experienced teachers of the IB Diploma. Previous attendance at a category 1 or 2 workshop is not necessarily a requirement, although it is likely that most participants will have attended IB workshops before and will be experienced IBDP practitioners.

Accommodation Information

St Clare’s reserves a number of beds at a reduced rate* at The Linton Lodge Hotel for each workshop. The hotel is very close to the St Clare’s main campus (5 minutes on foot) and is ideally positioned for participants to make the most of their time in Oxford.

  • All rooms are ensuite
  • Free Wi-Fi
  • Lunch and dinner are provided at the College

Hotel Fees

Bed and Breakfast fee per night:

  • £114.95*
  • Fees are payable directly to the hotel in advance; they are not included in the workshop fees.

*The reduced rate is for bed-and-breakfast and is only available if you reserve the room via the St Clare’s online application form.

Check-in and Registration

On your arrival day, we suggest you check in to the hotel before walking to St Clare’s IB World School (139 Banbury Road) to register for the workshop between 20:30 and 21:30.

  • Hotel check-in from 15:00
  • Payment in full is required in advance
  • Parking is available in the hotel car park for a small fee

On departure day, rooms must be vacated by 11:00. Both the hotel and the College will be happy to look after your luggage until the workshop closes at 14:00.
